Department of English

The department of English offers BS 4 Years Program in English literature and linguistics in evening shift. The department has PhD and M.Phil qualified and experienced faculty members including 1 Associate Professor 6 Assistant Professors and 3 lecturers. The faculty maintains an identical nature of the BS program through the equal distribution of courses accordingly HEC approved credit hours.

The Department of English offers an exciting program with dedicated, well qualified, and experienced faculty to facilitate in studying English Literature and Linguistics with updated courses on literary and linguistic authors to our students as they would reflect their involvement with the study of English in global contexts and compete in their future.  Our classrooms offer opportunities to use multiple modalities, genres, and theoretical frameworks to read critically the word and the world around us.

Through quality teaching methods and equality approaches, it endeavors to endure critical and creative thinking about literature, linguistics, and language. It encourages and produces the graduates well prepared for pursuing their careers in education, research, business, law, government, and publication.

INTRODUCTION

The Department of English was established at Govt. Islamia Arts & Commerce and Post Graduate Center in  19…………… and has been progressed in 2024 as a department, it is the first and only college in Sukkur city which offers BS 4 years program in English with the affiliation of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur under collaboration of Govt. of Sindh . It is one of the oldest and top- rated department of the other public colleges of Sukkur. Since its beginning, the department has been providing a quality learning and studying of English Literature and now Linguistics  11 faculty members who teach across the whole from English literature to modern Linguistics.

The faculty struggle to provide students with motivating and challenging environment in which they can grow their competence and skills in all areas of English Linguistics and Literature. Thus, to make them succeed in sundry challenges of their personal, practical and professional life fairly effectively and efficiently.

The department provides passionate observing to the students both in and outside of the classroom teaching and learning in a wide variety of forums for instance lectures, workshops, writing competitions and debates. The faculty of the department feel pride that their students are taught with great respect, and care.
